Here's a handful of the preliminary work for some of my editorial pieces.
Studies
Clothed Figure 3
Here's a collection of my better work from my Clothed Figure 3 class last semester. All of these studies are done with conte crayon on either smooth newsprint or drawing paper.
Clothed Figure 2 Studies
Here are a collection of my better studies from my Clothed Figure 2 class this semester. Each drawing is labeled with how long the study was and they were done in conte crayon, charcoal pencil, and pastel pencils.
Figure Painting Studies
Here are some of the better studies that came out of my Figure Painting class. The three figure studies were six hour poses while the feet study took about three hours. All of these painting were done in oil on board. I'm still having problems with taking photographs of oil paintings without getting some glare so I am open and hoping for any suggestions.
200 Hand Studies
So I've been diligently working on studies and filling up sketchbooks lately. One of my goals is to go through Bridgeman's "The Book of 100 Hands" and do a study of every hand in the book (which actually comes out to around 350 hands). Here are the first 200 studies from the book along with a few other studies and doodles that happened to share the same page as some of the hands. All studies were done with whatever pens I had around at the time (mostly Bic pens).
Anthony Ryder Master Study
Here is a study of a portrait originally done by master artist Anthony Ryder. This is my first time using only cross hatching (no smudging or blending, just lots of lines going in opposite directions) to describe values. It's a long and at times tedious process, but I love how it turned out and I'm definitely going to try something like this again in the future.
Clothed Figure Studies
Here is a collection of some of my better studies from this semester's Clothed Figure Drawing 1 class. We would work with costumed models and add our own twist to their poses. These are all 15-20 minute studies done in conte crayon on newsprint paper. Also I uploaded a better picture of "No Lemons Allowed" on the blog post and the facebook album.
Anatomy Final
This was my Anatomy Final from last semester I never bothered to put up.It was done in pencil and our assignment was to portray two nude figures interacting, so of course I portrayed two figures standing around each other awkwardly.
Steve Zissou and Fight Club Screen Caps
Here are a couple of screen caps I've finished with my new wacom tablet. The first of of Bill Murray's character, Steve Zissou, from the Life Aquatic and the other is of Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter's characters in Fight Club. Both were done in Photoshop.
